HelloFresh innovates last mile logistics in Netherlands

HelloFresh starts several innovations in fulfilment. In collaboration with FoodLogica, an Amsterdam startup in the field of sustainable logistics, the meal box service starts this month with a pilot project for delivering meals with refrigerated cargo bikes in Amsterdam. Additionally Hello Fresh offers customers the option to follow the delivery route from one half hour prior to the delivery time real-time online.

This is made possible by the implementation of special navigation software. Finally HelloFresh increased its logistical capacity, earlier this month by opening a new distribution center in Maastricht (NL). From here depart the orders to the southern regions in the Netherlands, which will provide shorter transport distances.

Flexibility and convenience

A the various innovations HelloFresh puts customer first. But in addition, the team looks critically at efficiency and sustainability. Olaf Vreeburg, Head of Operations at HelloFresh: “We find it important that our meal boxes are at our customers as fast as possible, so we can guarantee the freshness of our products. But we especially want to make sure our customer are happy. Convenience is first in everything we do.”

Cargo Bikes

Starting this month electric cargo bikes are equipped with a refrigerated storage space. The bikes are charged through charging stations that operate on solar energy. Vreeburg: “We are proud of our partnership with FoodLogica. Delivery with cargo bikes results in less traffic in the city and reducing CO2 emissions. As a company we take our social responsibilities in this way. We want to contribute to the innovation in the logistics industry, also be open to other parties who want to use our refrigerated distribution network.”
And, not unimportant; bicycle delivery provides no additional cost for customers of HelloFresh.
