Ile-de-France wants a big bang in urban logistics

The regional council of Ile-de-France (France) will launch a call for expressions of interest to mobilize city logistics professionals to find more effective solutions in terms of organization and impact on the environment. The objective is to better organize the flow of goods.

“For the first time, the share of the car is down, by 5%, in the movement of people, this is historic but yet there are more and more and more traffic jams”, says Valérie Pécresse for the president of the Ile-de-France region Valérie Pécresse does not exclude anything by evoking “Drones, river transport, logistics tunnels or small containers loaded on small electric trucks”.

Logistics represents 375,000 jobs or 7% of paid employment in Ile-de-France and it represents 17 million square meters of warehouses, two-thirds of which are located in the outer suburbs. Managing Director of Sogaris, Jonathan Sebbane talks about a network of logistics sites on the scale of Greater Paris, linked at strategic locations for a new organization of flows on the scale of the Paris metropolitan area.
